Cantonese opera over a Memphis beat

The intro borrows from The Flower Princess (帝女花), the story of the Ming dynasty’s Princess Changping. Tang Ti-sheng adapted it as a Cantonese opera that premiered in 1957, and a film version followed in 1959. Taiwan’s Commercial Times calls it a classic that many older people in Guangdong can hum; a commentary on The Paper’s Paike platform traces the sample to the 1959 version and notes that the song’s words have little to do with the opera’s plot.

Around the sample, Skai Isyourgod builds the Memphis rap he is known for. The Commercial Times credits its Memphis-style rap and trap elements for reaching listeners who do not understand Chinese.

Portrait of a small-time boss

The title is a set phrase that, in the Commercial Times’ reading, carries ideas of hard work, enterprise and making money. Wikipedia describes the song as an exaggerated, humorous portrait of nouveau-riche life in modern China, full of showy wealth in a distinctly Guangdong style. Sixth Tone hears in its opening a middle-aged Guangdong uncle, the kind of small-time boss who prays to the gods or studies feng shui to protect his business.

The details are domestic: home karaoke, feng shui fish, tea and calligraphy, according to the Commercial Times, which adds that the music video was shot at a Hong Kong racecourse. Sixth Tone reports that Chinese social media users answered with videos of their own tea sets, karaoke systems and calligraphy spelling out the title.

A dance that travelled

The song took off on Douyin in 2025 through dance challenges, as fans posted their own quirky routines. By July, the Commercial Times counted more than five billion views for related hashtags on Douyin and more than ten million YouTube views for the video. In Taiwan the dance turned up at graduation ceremonies, and K-pop groups including ENHYPEN, TXT and NCT WISH performed it.

Blueprint Supreme, together with the album’s title track, entered Spotify’s global Viral 50 chart. LiFTED, an Asian music site, reported in July 2025 that Skai Isyourgod had passed Jay Chou in monthly Spotify listeners, about 3.02 million against 2.98 million, and credited the rise largely to this song. The same commentary notes that in the viral clips Liu Fuyang’s half was often overlooked.
