Three voices, one song

Seneweb, the Senegalese news site, published the video on 3 August 2024 under the title Wally B. Seck, Confuse, featuring Mia Guissé and Amadeus. In its review of the year, Seneweb wrote that the trio’s August 2024 collaboration reached number one on YouTube’s trending list and passed 29 million views on YouTube in less than four months.

Duets of this kind have become part of Seck’s approach. The daily Le Soleil noted in January 2025 that he has recorded more and more duos, both with local artists such as Mia Guissé and Amadeus and with international stars, and that these collaborations bring in new listeners and add variety to his music.

A gold single

According to the French-language Wikipedia, citing a report of 27 May 2025, Seck became that year the first Senegalese artist certified double gold by AMC Africa, for his album État d’Esprit and for Confuse, which received a gold single award.

About Wally B. Seck

Wally Ballago Seck was born in Dakar in 1985, the son of the singer Thione Seck. As a young man he hoped to become a footballer; Le Soleil writes that his father found him a place in his group, Raam Daan, where Wally is now the lead vocalist. His first single, Bo-Dioudo, came out at the end of 2007.

Le Soleil describes him as giving new life to mbalax while exploring other styles, and a journalist it quotes hears a faster tempo and much heavier percussion than in his father’s music. In December 2024 he played to a full house at the 8,500-seat Adidas Arena in Paris; Seneweb lists Mia Guissé among his guests that night.

About Mia Guissé and Amadeus

Mia Guissé, based in Dakar, first sang in the duo Maabo with her former partner before going solo, according to Music in Africa. Seneweb ranked her third among the top Senegalese artists of 2024, a year in which she gave her first major concert in France on 7 September.

Amadeus, also known as Massamba Amadeus, topped Seneweb’s list of the year’s artists for 2024. The review also notes his long-awaited 13-track album Taaru Sénégal and his prize for best male artist of 2024 at the Oscars d’Afrique ceremony.
