Emblem was inspired by Expo 2020 Dubai, where Daniel Michels met Ten, an artist at the Chad Pavilion, as visitors pursued passport stamps. The vision connects country and territory Pavilions, attributed GPS-verified digital souvenirs, many cultural passports and one continuing personal collection while protecting cultural authorship, creator rights and user privacy.

Emblem applies the Pavilion and passport experience of World Expos to the real world: each country or territory is represented as a Pavilion, its cultural places hold collectible digital souvenirs by Emblem creators, and connected passports organise each journey inside one continuing collection.

Pavilions, Emblems, passports

A country or territory is represented as a Pavilion. Its museums, neighbourhoods, landmarks, landscapes and cultural institutions become the real places where visitors collect digital souvenirs by credited Emblem creators. Each passport organises a distinct route, while every collected Emblem stays in the visitor's continuing personal collection.

The creator, the stamp and the portal

Daniel Michels met Ten, an artist at the Chad Pavilion, and recognised a contrast between paintings that were difficult for visitors to buy and carry and a stamp that travelled easily. Growing up with an artist mother made the visibility problem personal. Emblem combines the stamp ritual with an attributed digital souvenir and cultural context.

The Emblem logo carries the same Expo origin. Its framed perspective is based on the entry portals of Expo 2020 Dubai, turning an architectural threshold into a digital gateway to place, art and culture.

From a temporary Expo to a continuing cultural network

World Expos bring countries together in one host city for a limited period. Emblem gives each country or territory a continuing Pavilion rooted in real cultural places that can remain active over time.

Why it matters

Visitors discover places through digital souvenirs and physical exploration. Destinations can connect major landmarks with smaller sites and preserve event legacies. Emblem creators and communities gain attribution, context and visibility tied to the culture and place represented.

At a larger scale, people can encounter another country through places, art, food, architecture, science, landscape, language and lived memory rather than primarily through conflict news or an opaque recommendation feed.

What exists today

Emblem already operates GPS-verified digital souvenir collecting through live cultural passports. Luxembourg demonstrates the place-creator-passport model, while current country and territory Pavilions are clearly labelled Emblem editorial unless verified by a responsible authority or partner.

What the wider vision requires

Portable user-held passport credentials, locally governed cultural nodes, common rights and provenance standards, open interfaces, independent certification and resilient preservation remain a roadmap rather than a claim about the present product.

Cultural sovereignty in the product

Verified partners should approve official content, Emblem creators must remain attributed under clear agreements, communities need a correction process, location verification should not become continuous movement tracking, and disputed or editorial representation must be disclosed rather than presented as diplomatic recognition.
