One of 50 Young Leaders selected from 8,250 applicants
UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector created the inaugural Youth for Peace: UNESCO Intercultural Leadership Programme to help emerging leaders turn intercultural dialogue into practical action for peace and social cohesion.
Daniel Michels was selected as one of 50 Young Leaders from 8,250 applicants across every region of the world. The final cohort was chosen through a review by an international technical jury of 22 experts.
Through the programme, Daniel received UNESCO training and mentoring, together with a grant that helped develop the Luxembourg Passport Youth for Peace as a public cultural project. UNESCO later featured the passport as a way for residents, newcomers and visitors to build shared reference points through real places, digital souvenirs and stories.
Youth for Peace is implemented by UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector and supported by the Kingold Group. Programme support does not imply UNESCO endorsement of every statement made by Emblem.

Why Emblem is a tool for peace
Emblem turns cultural discovery into a structured encounter with place, memory and other perspectives. These ten principles explain how the Luxembourg Passport puts intercultural dialogue into practice.
Peace does not emerge from slogans. It grows through familiarity, dignity and shared understanding. Emblem gives those ideas a practical form through digital souvenirs, place, story and memory.
