Flowers of Ukraine

Flowers of Ukraine is a modernist building at 49 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street in central Kyiv. Built in 1983–1985 to a design by Mykola Levchuk, it originally housed a flower shop, greenhouse and spaces for cultural and educational activities. When redevelopment threatened to change the building’s appearance and character, Kyiv residents campaigned to preserve it. Flowers of Ukraine became a place where architectural heritage, everyday memory and community care meet. Yuliia Zinchenko created this illustration in support of the preservation initiative. Blue and yellow graphic forms, textured surfaces and botanical motifs reinterpret the building’s distinctive modernist architecture and its history as a place for flowers and plants.

The Kyiv Passport is an independent cultural pilot being shaped with Ukrainian artists. It begins with places that carry personal meaning rather than a generic sightseeing checklist.
