Emblem 1.6.47: The Discovery Update

Patch notes | Places, people and a real-world treasure hunt Emblem 1.6.47 is now available on the Apple App Store. This update introduces Lucky Emblems and Emblem Membership, develops the People Passport pilot, and improves photography, maps and everyday reliability. Availability on each platform and access to individual features can differ. Emblem turns places you visit, people you meet and cultural moments into digital souvenirs you can keep. This update brings new features alongside refinements to those experiences. This briefing brings together the development since 1.6.39, including the latest 1.6.47 refinements. Not every item first appeared in 1.6.47: some Android users may already have received earlier improvements. UPDATE HIGHLIGHTS New Lucky Emblems: a chance-based treasure hunt alongside Challenges. More consistent profiles, stories and navigation. 01 / REWARDS & LUCKY EMBLEMS Introducing Lucky Emblems An Emblem is a digital souvenir connected to a place or experience. Lucky Emblems introduce something new: an eligible collection can also give you a chance at a campaign reward. It is another reason to explore—not a promise that every visit wins a prize. How it works Open Rewards → Rewards → Lucky Emblems to find participating passports and their prize counts. Open a passport to see the eligible Emblems, possible rewards and campaign conditions. Visit and collect an eligible Emblem while its campaign is available. Location and event requirements still apply. The campaign checks whether your collection qualifies for a Lucky outcome. If it does, a reward is selected from the eligible prize pool. Follow the reward’s instructions to claim or redeem it. Receiving a Lucky outcome does not automatically complete a venue booking or other redemption requirement. What do the percentages mean? There are two different probabilities . The Standard or Member qualifying chance tells you how likely an eligible collection is to produce a Lucky outcome. The prize-share table tells you which reward could be selected after you qualify . Illustration only—not an actual campaign: if the qualifying chance were 10%, and a particular prize had a 60% share of that Lucky selection, the combined chance of that prize would be 6% for that eligible collection, assuming that pool remains unchanged. A prize-share table adding up to 100% therefore does not mean everyone wins . Always use the actual chances, remaining stock and rules shown for your campaign. Rewards, stock and eligibility can vary; this new experience is still being refined. Where a campaign limits a reward to once per person, collecting another Lucky Emblem does not let you claim that same reward again. Finding your way around Rewards Rewards are easier to explore, with Challenges and Lucky Emblems separated inside the Rewards view and redeemed items kept apart. The Lucky directory groups participating content by passport and displays prize counts. Opening a passport takes you closer to its Lucky experience, the Emblems involved and the rewards you could receive. Challenges remain about meeting their stated requirements. Where an eligible Lucky Emblem fulfils a reward requirement, the reward flow supports that alternative route. Always check the individual offer: qualifying for a reward and redeeming it are separate steps. Interface refinements Standard and Member qualifying chances are easier to compare. Prize shares and stock are presented together. Routine refreshes retain reward information more consistently. Redundant “View Emblem Details” actions are removed when you are already on that Emblem’s page. Reward partner links sit closer to the relevant reward. The pavilion selector avoids duplicate flags and separates pavilions from regional entries. 02 / PEOPLE PASSPORT — PILOT PROJECT People Passport is a pilot project that brings photo memories of the people you meet together with Pavilion or Region context. We’re testing and refining the experience with feedback; it is not presented as a finished, fully rolled-out feature. Start by taking paired photos, choose the appropriate entry, review your memory and publish it. A saved draft is not the same as a successfully published memory—check the status before assuming it is visible to others. A dedicated home for the people you meet People memories stay in the People Passport instead of appearing among ordinary profile Emblems. The Passport’s People tab uses a three-column photo grid. Like controls are removed from thumbnails and kept inside the detail page, where the existing like action is centered. Capture first. Choose your place next. After taking a People photo, you can choose its Pavilion or Region. Search and tab-state improvements help you find the right entry without losing your place. The Create action is more visible. Collection explanations make the required event location and date window clearer, instead of leaving an unavailable action unexplained. Publishing and recovery Smaller photo uploads and dedicated thumbnails. Parallel upload handling for the paired photos. Background publication after a draft has been durably saved. Retained drafts and a retry path when publication fails. Account-bound handling to prevent one person’s unfinished work appearing under another account. Canonical location names retained independently of interface language. These are reliability improvements, not a promise that uploads always finish immediately. Connection quality and service availability still matter. 03 / CAMERA & PHOTO VIEWING Dual photography pairs the front and rear camera views: the person behind the moment and the scene around them. Switch between the two photos when viewing the memory. The capture frame is gone People and regular Dual cameras now use an edge-to-edge live preview instead of placing the camera inside a decorative square frame. Existing capture controls remain available above the image. Photos take the screen People’s full-screen viewer fills the display without black letterboxing. The image keeps its proportions and may crop at the edges to fill the screen; it is not stretched. Close and photo-swap controls remain clear of device safe areas. Switching photos, live record changes and account changes retain their protections. Additional improvements More consistent native iOS selfie previews across Dual and People capture. Refined orientation and photo handling. Improved location-story presentation and clipped-edge handling. Lightweight thumbnails for browsing before opening the larger photo. 04 / MAP & DISCOVERY The map opens around your available location and adjusts its view to nearby collectible places. When location is unavailable, the map can fall back to a world overview. Distant collectibles do not force the opening view far away from you. Lucky markers have a clearer gold treatment and contrasting outline. Marker drawing bounds are corrected to avoid clipped edges. Passport filters use the correct membership of locations, rather than mixing unrelated places. Expired event markers are handled more consistently. Location-based collection still depends on the relevant location permission, eligibility and event rules. 05 / PASSPORTS, PROFILES & FEED Cleaner passports Fixed headers and clearer tab layouts keep navigation within reach. Improvements to retained search, scrolling and refresh behavior make returning to a section less disruptive. Grouped profile headings no longer repeat a tiny passport image beside the passport name. The headings remain clickable, and the main Passports navigation is unchanged. A more readable feed Collections of the same Emblem can be grouped instead of repeating the same activity card. Grouped entries now show current profile pictures. Unavailable profile images use a neutral avatar rather than leaving a loading indicator on screen indefinitely. Less repeated interface People grids, grouped headings and Rewards selectors have been simplified so the content does more of the talking. 06 / STORIES & SHARING Location photos receive a fuller presentation and clearer attribution. The Emblem sharing experience includes tier-colored sides and refinements to rotation, scaling and capture behavior. Recovery improvements address interrupted or awkward movements during interaction. This section concerns the existing Emblem sharing experience; it does not introduce comments or sharing for People memories. 07 / ACCOUNTS, LANGUAGE & RELIABILITY Behind the visible changes, this update also includes work on: Account creation and recovery from interrupted setup. More consistent profile completion across sign-in methods. Reward eligibility, redemption validation and duplicate-action protection. Refresh and account-switch handling. Media processing, upload recovery and thumbnail delivery. Localized navigation and clearer event explanations. Preserving original place identity while translating interface labels. NEW / EMBLEM MEMBERSHIP Emblem Membership is an optional paid subscription that supports the platform. While active, it adds a gold checkmark beside your profile name and gives you member-specific Lucky chances in participating campaigns. The checkmark identifies an active member; it is not identity verification. This update adds a dedicated benefits page, subscription status, purchase restoration and store-management controls. Plans renew automatically unless cancelled through the store used to subscribe. Review the available plan, billing period and price before confirming a purchase. The Standard and Member values shown on a campaign explain the difference for that offer. A higher qualifying chance is still a chance: membership does not guarantee a Lucky result or reserve a prize. Do not assume every campaign has the same multiplier. Check its displayed probabilities and rules. Subscription availability and purchase activation are separate from the new Membership interface. Only purchase a plan when the store presents its current price, billing period and terms. INTRODUCING EMBLEM COINS Emblem Coins are a balance inside Emblem for supported in-app unlocks. They are separate from the digital souvenirs in your collection, your Membership subscription and your chance of getting a Lucky reward. If you have not seen Coins in your version before, start with the Emblem Coins page: it explains the earning opportunities available to you and records your activity. How the Coins page works How to earn: see the eligible activities and conditions offered in your app. An activity must meet its requirements before Coins are credited. Get Emblem Coins: check which ways of obtaining Coins are currently available. The presence of this tab does not mean store purchases are enabled. History: follow credits and spending so you can understand changes to your balance. What can Coins unlock? Some offers require Coins as well as a collection goal. Read the individual offer before confirming an unlock: the app shows its Coin cost and any additional requirements. Only supported offers accept Coins. A Lucky result and a Coin unlock are separate routes. Do not assume that collecting an eligible Emblem spends Coins, or that Coins guarantee a Lucky prize. This update brings the Coin information, obtaining options and History into one tabbed experience, together with clearer balances, confirmation and transaction-recovery handling. Coin purchases and quiz-derived Coin rewards are not announced as live here. They have separate activation and transaction-testing requirements. MORE CHANGES CONFIRMED IN THE RELEASE SOURCE Event Emblems Event Emblems are souvenirs tied to a scheduled event. This update adds event discovery and clearer local collection-date messaging, blocks collection outside the applicable window, and removes ended events from the map. An event included in the catalogue is not necessarily open for collection today. Your personal travel map The personal Passport map now displays a visited-location count based on distinct identifiable places, rather than treating every Emblem as a separate location. Markers open the corresponding Location page where one can be resolved, with an Emblem-page fallback for older records that lack a real location. The people behind a grouped collection Tap a grouped feed card’s “+” collector count to open a list of the represented collectors. Selecting a person opens their profile. The same flow now uses up-to-date avatars and a neutral fallback for missing pictures. Books, gastronomy and music The culture pages are for exploring and rating books, dishes and music, and contributing photos or suggestions. These are improvements to existing features, not newly invented categories. Redesigned book cards use a responsive shelf-style layout. Rating flows distinguish a confirmed save from a failed aggregate refresh; a delayed refresh should not invite a duplicate vote. Food-photo batches retain successful additions when a later photo fails and report partial results. Music suggestions retain a reviewed result for retry, prevent duplicate submission, and clear stale results when the signed-in account changes. Quieter map styling Roads and tourism dots use neutral greys. Nearby framing, Lucky outlines and corrected passport filters remain separate from the personal map’s visited-place overview. TESTING & AVAILABILITY People Passport remains a pilot project. Lucky campaigns, event experiences and publishing flows are being introduced and refined. They can depend on your app version, the event window, campaign availability and server-side settings. Not announced as live here: Offline Area downloads, Coin purchases, quiz-derived Coin rewards, and People comments or sharing. These have separate testing or activation requirements. If you try a new feature and something looks wrong, tell us which page you were on, what you tapped, your app version and what happened. A screenshot can help—please avoid including private information. We want Emblem to grow through real use and useful feedback, not through promises that every feature is already perfect. WHAT TO TRY FIRST Open the map and look for something nearby. Visit Rewards and explore a participating Lucky passport. Read both the qualifying chance and the possible prize shares.
